Purpose: As a theatre and communications student at the University of Maryland, I want college to be a time in which I learn to rely on myself as an adult and a creator. I aim to take chances and search for opportunities that will prepare me for a life of being able to open doors for myself. I hope to gain a greater sense of awareness about the world around me, as well as the inner passion and strength to go out there and better it. I seek to use Media Scholars as a place to foster new professional connections, bond with like-minded students, as well as a sounding board for future plans and career projects. Through daily exercises in connecting and analyzing news, take-home assignments in which I can explore my creative side, and visits with guest lecturers in the professional market- scholars continues to revolutionize my college experience and offer me direct connections to the world beyond College Park. As my practicum project unfolds with the mother/daughter YT channel "Because I Said So," I want to continue using my theatrical abilities in addition to the skills I learned through media scholars (ex. video editing, marketing, etc.) to create a worthwhile media platform that will make a difference not only in my career, but in the lives of others.
